FacebookDiabetes X-Pert
We are offering an exciting opportunity to be part of the Diabetes X-pert programme (EXpert Patient Education versus Routine Treatment). If you are interested in learning more about your diabetes and in particular how to manage your health using dietary approach and aiming to put your diabetes into remission without drugs, then please read the info below and complete the application form.
What is the Programme?
COVID-19 has probably more than any other disease alerted us to the importance of reducing risk factors and focusing on staying healthy. By improving lifestyle factors, such as diet and eating habits, we can slow the progression of lifestyle related disese into remission, thereby removing this significant factor.
We are delighted to announce that the surgeries within the Bognor Coastal Alliance PCN will be delivering the X-PERT Diabetes Health structured and fun programme.
Who can join?
If you have Diabetes Type 2 you are invited by a nurse or GP to join the programme and are encouraged to bring a supporter or partner to the sessions, if that works for you.
What is Involved?
Participation involves attending a regular weekly on-line or face-to-face 1.5 to 2.5 – hour Group Consultation.
How long does it go on for?
The programme runs for 6 consecutive weeks.
What should I expect from it?
You can expect to learn about the lifestyle factors and nutrition that can cause and exacerbate Diabetes Type 2 and weight gain, and that prevent you from losing weight and controlling blood glucose. We focus on changes to diet and lifestyle to lower blood glucose and fat storage in a natural way, and to stop disease into remission. The purpose of the group is not to tell you what to do but to give you information and support to help you make informed choices about what is right for you.
You will face challenges to your current habits and will have to take tough decisions. But you will get support from other patients facing similar challenges, the course tutor Julie.
To be referred to this programme, you need to answer ‘yes’ to the following questions:
- Would you like to learn how to put your diabetes into remission, (reduce weight) and reduce your medication?
- Are you ready to make significant changes to your diet?
- Are you available to regularly attend an on-line or face-to-face course on Wednesdays mornings?
NB. You will be given help to use your electronic equipment to attend the sessions. It is not at all difficult.
