If you have Type 2 Diabetes and are interested in improving the control of your condition please read on.
We support patients with Type 2 Diabetes and Pre-Diabetes to put these conditions into remission without taking blood sugar lowering drugs where possible. We have a group of patients who have put their diabetes into remission using a low carbohydrate diet approach. The group run a support group each month for those who use lower carb lifestyle for diabetic control and for those who are new to this approach or who simply want to find out more. We also welcome patients from our neighbouring practices Maywood and Grove House to this group.
The group meet on the first Wednesday of each month at 3.30pm in West Meads surgery meeting room. All are welcome to drop in.
They also run group sessions at Shore community church which anyone can attend and are currently being run every few months.
Diabetes X-Pert
We run a specialised diabetes education course called diabetes X- pert. This is for patients with Type- 2 Diabetes and Pre-Diabetes. It is run by our specially trained health coach Julie in face to face sessions in the surgery.
Please see this page for information on how to join this programme.
Julie also runs face to face coaching sessions for those who feel they would benefit more from someone to one support.
For those who already know about low carb lifestyle we run a monthly zoom support group. Please contact the practice by e-mail to be added to the e-mailing list for these sessions.
For those who don’t want to join a group but want to find out more about low carb lifestyle we recommend the Freshwell practice website .
They also have a great free App which has information advice and recipes.
If you prefer to have written information please ask reception for a low carb information pack.
